SonoPass Noise Reduction Measurement
SonoPass® is Sonomax's proprietary computer-generated proof-of performance software. While the SonoPass individual fit validation system was designed to test SonoCustom® earpieces, it has now been enhanced to test other hearing protection products as well. The SonoPass is the only system that scientifically validates the exact percentage of protection that an individual is receiving. Sonomax believes that this innovative technology will pave the way towards new workplace regulations in the US and around the world.
While hearing protection devices (HPD) have been the last line of defence against noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) in the workplace, significant questions linger regarding their performance. HPDs in use today do not provide the level of protection that would be expected from their laboratory evaluations under ANSI S3.19-1974 or S12.6-1997(R2001) Method A or Method B. The level of protection provided to individuals has proven difficult, if not impossible, to measure.
The SonoPass validation system measures noise reduction (simultaneous sound pressure levels inside and outside the HPD), and applies compensation factors derived from rigorous laboratory testing to provide personal attenuation equivalents, yielding an effective personal attenuation rating, or PAR, for individual users.
The SonoPass Setup and testing process ensures a safe decibel level at the eardrum.
